Well... Didn't see that coming
A lot has happened to me since I wrote last week. And a lot of it I never even expected to happen. This can be the case for each of us a lot of the time. In Matthew 24 verse 44 we read, "Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of Man cometh." Now of course when we read this we all think, "Well yeah we won't know when Jesus will come!" But I think this can be a bit more deep symbolism than we make it out to be.
In the Greek for this verse it says He will come in the Second Coming "when you do not expect Him." this changes the connotation slightly, because we may be thinking subconsciously, "Man Christ will come someday but definitely not now!" And that will be the condition when He comes. We must never forget that our Lord should always be on our minds and we should always be preparing to meet Him. He is the most important thing in any of our lives, whether we think about it or not. I think this scriptural prophesy can mean more though. This week my wife had extreme pain in her abdomen Wednesday night, so we got to deciding to just go to the ER in case of appendicitis. We went like 10:30 at night, waited for a while for the testing they did. At 1 am Thursday morning they told us she needed to get surgery to take her appendix out since it was appendicitis. Then only a few hours later at 5 am she was in surgery. I did not see this coming! Well a lot of things we won't see coming, even Christ's coming. But if we are constantly building our faith and doing our spiritual exercise as I like to think about it, we will be prepared no matter when God requires us to step up to the line and start running the race. If we are not exercising our spirit, we will be miserable in the race and certainly not win. My point is, God's goal for us is to have us become a genuine person who wants to be good, not just someone who wants to be good once someone important is watching. I hope I can be more like this genuine person God wants me to be.
